Honoring Earth Day

At The Cabinet Salon, we take pride in our commitment to sustainability. Through the Green Circle Salons recycling program, we are able to recover up to 95% of our salon's beauty waste items, such as hair clippings, foil, color tubes, and excess color.⁠

We firmly believe in the importance of being mindful of our environmental impact, both as a salon and as individuals. In 2023 alone, The Cabinet Salon diverted an impressive 815 pounds of beauty and PPE waste from landfills and waterways.⁠

In honor of Earth Day, we want to take a moment to highlight the steps we are taking to make your visit to the salon more sustainable.

Hair Clippings:  

Hair clippings are not simply discarded. Instead, they are sent to a Green Circle partner facility where they are repurposed. Here, the hair is either turned into bio-composite plastic for new products like recycling bins or utilized in research and development for new environmental technologies such as insulation and stormwater filtration.

PPE - Face Masks and Gloves (Color Gloves):  

The PPE waste collected in our salon, including face masks and gloves, is safely incinerated. This process converts the waste into clean renewable energy, to power homes and businesses. Additionally, the ash can be used to make filler in asphalt and other construction materials, including brick.

Metals - Foils, Color Tubes, and Aerosol Containers: 

Metals, including foils, color tubes, and aerosol containers, are carefully sorted by grade and type. They are then melted down into aluminum sheets or bars, known as ingots. These ingots are used to manufacture new products such as car parts and bicycles, contributing to a circular economy.

Excess Hair Color:  

Even excess hair color is managed sustainably. Before being sent to one of Green Circles partner facilities, it is collected and consolidated. At these facilities, the excess hair color is repurposed to generate clean energy, further reducing our environmental footprint.
